POSITION DESCRIPTION for Dean of Gethsemane Cathedral

Gethsemane Cathedral in Fargo, North Dakota, seeks a new dean of the Cathedral.

Established in 1875 and located in a beautiful building completed in 1992 that evokes our agricultural heritage, Gethsemane is a pastoral sized church moving toward program sized in a growing midwestern community renowned for its excellent quality of life.    We prize our devotion to Christian education, faith formation, strong music program, magnificent pipe organ, and diversity among our congregants.  We also have strong support from volunteer priests and deacons and we value pastoral care and outreach. 

We are in search of a dean who will welcome and encourage a diversity of congregants, display strong preaching skills, possess an eagerness to develop youth programming, and build on our rich traditions as we seek to reach new members and grow the congregation in the greater metropolitan area.   This area, including West Fargo and Fargo, North Dakota and Moorhead, Minnesota, boasts three institutions of higher education, two major medical centers, a variety of vibrant businesses, and a superb public and private school system.   Fine arts, abundant cultural opportunities, and a safe environment are among the amenities we enjoy.
