Acolyte Corps

The Gethsemane Cathedral Acolyte Corps consists of 34 youth, 23 of whom are currently actively serving and with the rest available as substitutes. The Acolyte Corps is a group of dedicated young people, from 4th grade through High School, who perform an important service in leading and assisting during our worship. We try to schedule three Acolytes for each of the 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. services (10:00 a.m. during the summer) as well as for special services during the holidays.  Most Acolytes serve at least once each month. Many serve more frequently.

We have a tradition of giving Acolytes a cross engraved with their initials which they wear when they serve. The Acolytes meet once or twice a year for a party, to practice procedures, and to train new Acolytes.  They are given written procedures outlining their duties. The Acolyte Coordinators also meet with parents of Acolytes to answer questions about duties and expectations.

If you are interested in becoming an Acolyte call 701-232-3394 or email answerperson@gethsemanecathedral.org
