Capital Campaign
Saturday, October 4, 2008
Dear Friends in Our Lord Jesus:
The first phase of our 2008-2009 Capital Campaign construction project is going very well! And we are all thrilled at the progress! I hope that you have had a chance to look at the new roof, which was completed during the summer, and at the new steel siding, which is about half-way completed. As you may recall, the Cathedral Chapter last spring approved the two projects, following the disastrous hail storm the previous Fall which ruined the roof.
The good news was that the cost to replace the roof -- right at $100,000 -- was covered by our insurance. The siding project will cost around $180,000 and will take most of the Fall to complete. Part of the $180,000 has already been raised, due to a $70,000 grant from the Cathedral Foundation (with $60,000 earmarked for the siding project) and other gifts totaling around $10,000.
Our goal this Fall, during Phase One of our Capital Campaign, is to raise the remaining $110,000 to $120,000. Later this Fall, a consultant from the national church will help us get Phase Two of this campaign underway. We anticipate during Phase Two looking at a variety of projects -- ranging from fixing our parking lot, to replacing worn-out carpet, to replacing/upgrading our heating/AC system, to updating kitchen appliances and office equipment. Many of these Phase Two projects are of critical importance, since they involve several years of deferred and neglected maintenance.
At this point, I would like to ask you to consider making a special contribution for the completion of Phase One of our campaign, the siding project. With a variety of new programs, ministries, and activities beginning almost every week, we are riding a wonderful wave of enthusiasm as we enter the final months of the year. And we hope to raise the additional $110,000 to $120,000 by the end of this year.
Thank you all for your prayers and support during this exciting time at the Cathedral!
May the blessings of our Lord be with all of you!
The Very Rev. Dr. Steve Sellers+
