April
Deferred Giving Seminars, Sundays, April 13 & 20 - The Gethsemane Cathedral Foundation is planning deferred giving information seminars on April 13 and 20 during coffee hour between the 9am & 11am services. The program will be designed to inform and educate members and friends of the Cathedral in ways that they can make current and/or future gifts to the Foundation and the Cathedral (or any charity) through wills, trusts, retirement accounts, insurance policies, annuities, and other methods.
Family Night Out, April 16 - Ark of the Covenant and Family Movie
Diocesan Youth Retreat, April 19-20 - Retreat for youth in grades 6-12 at Red Willow Bible Camp in Binford, ND. Registration form
Cursillista Meeting, April 26 - A brainstorming meeting has been scheduled for Saturday, April 26, at Gethsemane Cathedral to discuss the possibility of resurrecting the Cursillo program in the Diocese of North Dakota. All persons who have attended a Cursillo weekend — folks known as "Cursillistas" — are invited and encouraged to attend. The meeting will begin at 11 a.m. and will conclude at 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided. If you are interested in taking part in the April 26 meeting, or if you have any questions about Cursillo, please call the Cathedral office at (701) 232-3394.
May
Recognition Sunday, May 18 - We recognize our Sunday School students and
teachers and confirmation teachers and students at all three services.
This is also the last day of Sunday School.
Gethsemane Talent Show, Wednesday, May 2 at 7pm
Summer Schedule Begins, Sunday, May 25 - We switch to our summer worship schedule on Sundays at 8:00am & 10:00am.

Vacation Bible School

Gethsemane has a different theme each year for it's Vacation Bible School.

Kick Off Sunday

The 10:00am service is a blended service with featured musicians
from Gethsemane, followed by a potluck picnic.
Fall Worship Schedule Begins - We resume our 8am, 9am & 11am worship schedule. Sunday School and coffee hour begin again at 10:10-10:50am.
October
Blessing of the Animals -
Every year, we invite you to bring your pets and
join us for a Service of Thanksgiving for St. Francis of Assisi and the
Blessing of the Animals. The traditional emblems of St. Francis are
the wolf, the lamb, fish, and bird, which he loved and to which he preached.
He has come to symbolize love and respect for all the creatures of the animal
kingdom.
North Dakota Diocesan Convention - The Annual Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of North Dakota will be in Bismarck.
Stewardship Sunday - When we prayerfully consider our stewardship commitment to God and to Gethsemane.
Fall Celebration/Halloween Party - A party for Gethsemane's church family. Games & activities for all! Food will be provided. Children--Young and Old--wear your best costumes!

All Saints’ Day, November
1 - Evening Prayer with Eucharist at 5:30pm, Special service of
remembrance. Please let us know the names of
those you would like included in the Prayers.
UTO Ingathering - The United Thank Offering takes place in many Episcopal Churches around the world. It is a feel-good thank you to God for small everyday blessings in our lives.
Thanksgiving Eve Service - A worship service at 7pm with Holy Communion.

Greening of the Cathedral -
Gethsemane Cathedral transforms into a winter
wonderland with fresh cut garland, Christmas trees, lights, bows, poinsettias
and ornaments. Everyone is welcome to help decorate and sing carols and
join in this great Gethsemane tradition.
Festival of Lessons & Carols - Our services at 9am and 11am follow the King’s College Chapel tradition, using the lessons from scripture used at King’s College Chapel. The lessons trace the Christmas story--the story of the Incarnation--beginning with God’s promise to Abraham that through his descendants all the earth will be blessed. The story culminates with the reading of John’s description of the Incarnation from the first chapter of the Gospel bearing his name.
Christmas Eve Services
4:00pm - A celebration worship with special
music.
11:00pm - The Christmas Festival Eucharist with
Bishop Michael Smith preaching and presiding. A very classical worship
celebrating the birth of Jesus.
Christmas Day Service - A traditional worship service at 10:00am.
January
Annual Meeting
- The Annual Meeting of Gethsemane Cathedral is
when the budget for the year is approved, reports from different committees are
presented and approved, and any other business (new or old) may be discussed.
All members are encouraged to attend. There will be a blended worship
service at 11:00am.
February
Scout Sunday - We honor Girls
Scouts, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts at all three services. Current and past
scouts are encouraged to wear their uniforms to church!
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper - Shrove Tuesday, an English tradition, is the day before Ash Wednesday, named for “Shriving” or confession performed traditionally on that day. Also known as Mardi Gras or “Fat Tuesday” for those who prepare for Lent by making sure they have sins of which to repent. The Pancake Supper includes: pancakes with your choice of toppings, sausage, juice, and coffee.
