Why I go to Gethsemane...

Gethsemane Cathedral is a place for you to find consolation, comfort and strength from God and from communion with others who seek God.  It is a place where you can be transformed by Jesus Christ and brought to wholeness and newness of life.

We go to Gethsemane for many reasons, including a love for the liturgy, a feeling of being with family, and a strong sense of God’s presence within the walls of our beautiful worship space.  However, I think one of the things that distinguishes us from other churches in our area is our “just right” size.  Our church is large enough to offer a wide variety of programs and ministry opportunities for all of the members of our family.  Yet, the congregation is also small enough to allow us to get to know nearly all of our fellow parishioners and to feel like we’re greeting family when we meet both inside and outside the church.

Gethsemane has always been our spiritual home, the place where we actively worship God and Jesus with our spiritual family.  I (David) am a lifelong member of the Cathedral, while I (Jan) became a member after our wedding, having been raised as a Roman Catholic.  We wanted to watch our daughters grow in Christ and to continue our personal growth in the best possible Christian setting.  We have been empowered to accomplish all of that and so much more as active members of the Gethsemane congregation.  We have never seen greater Christian love in a church setting.
